If you want to form a new group from your school, faith organization, club or simply a group of friends and family SOL welcomes you. SOL will work with you to tailor the itinerary for your group’s interests. We customize our program for a variety of ages and topics of interest. For a first-time trip organizer, getting 12-20 people to commit to this kind of experience can be a daunting task—but one that has the added reward of leveraging your commitment into an even greater impact. SOL can help guide you through this process. To get started, contact the Work Group Program Director.
Service learning is at the heart of SOL’s mission and volunteer experience. We train our staff and prepare trips to ensure that volunteers get the most out their time, beyond the obvious benefit of a construction project. We offer guided reflections, hold conversations with representatives from local families and organizations, and organize participatory activities to engage volunteers in the hard work of considering the full complexity of the world in which we live. SOL is happy to work with you to develop the kind of experiences you want your group to achieve.
All SOL volunteers make a personal commitment to participate in our program out of a sense of mission. SOL partners with many faith-based group whose values of solidarity and compassion align with the work of SOL.
While SOL is not a political or religious organization we and the communities we serve are open to working in partnership with you in a meaningful way.
