In a one-way dirt road track…
O’er the bumps we go

Arriving to the site…
Oh what fun it is to stuff a sack with all your might!

And mix cement, and erect columns, and pour foundations, and all the other things that have been keeping us busy this holiday season.

As you can see from the photo we have the back wall superadobe laid with all three windows in place. Up a little closer you can see the columns have been erected and the cement footings poured, as well as the footing for the round building. The base layer for the floor in the back building has been laid as well.

Much of the latest push has been thanks to the many community groups that have come out to help. We have seen brigades of people from Mesas de Acicaya, Villa Japon, El Triunfo, Pedro Arauz, Miraluz and family and friends all grab shovels in solidarity toward education in El Jicarito. It has been truly heartwarming.

This is our last week of construction for the year, but we will start back with Roger on duty the first week of January. In the meantime, we have Juan and friends working on building the roof at their shop in their community of Pedro Arauz. It should be ready to install by the time Roger returns.

THEN it will start looking like a school!
