Hills of filler spilling hither

By Casey Callais, 8/05/2016 –– Huge, huge, huge thanks to the Portland Jesuit High School and the Sonoma Valley team for all their hard work in the last few weeks. Finally the holes have been dug and filled!

This week we have brought in truckload after truckload of dirt to raise the level up high enough to start working when the next group from Portland arrives in a few days. So far, so good.

With the new dirt in we can now start spreading. Rains hit this week which help with the tamping process, but we will still need to bring in the water truck to really soak the earth and make sure it is ready to hold our building. We have ordered the rebar and stirrups for the footings so hopefully next week we will get those tied together.

We will be posting regular updates about the project as construction continues. In the meantime we are offering an amazing deal for people who are interested in this project. Donate to help buy whiteboards, desks, computers, etc. and receive Knitknot’s architectural plans, Precision Structural Engineering’s structural design (compliant with the 2012 International Building Code), Seeds of Learning’s complete construction report AND a 2-hour phone call with the Seeds of Learning team. This is ideal for anyone who is interested in building their own superadobe project and the money goes to cover school supplies and resources. Donate
