Super adobe sacks are up in El Jicarito

By Casey Callais 04/28/2017 — Five and a half months after laying the first sacks, the last sacks have been laid in the community school of El Jicarito, Nicaragua. And to top it off, the major roof work has been completed as well.

Of course the walls still plenty of work to be done such as the stucco, windows, painting, etc, but no more laying sacks! And just in time, too. We will be starting a new school construction project in Brisas de San Luis next month so we will leave the easy stuff for Freddy and the locals at Jicarito while our foreman, Dimas, moves to the new worksite.

I can almost taste the inauguration.

High fives to all the work groups who helped get us to where we are now!

We are posting regular updates about the project as construction continues. In the meantime we are offering an amazing deal for people who are interested in this project. Donate to help buy whiteboards, desks, computers, etc. and receive Knitknot’s architectural plans, Precision Structural Engineering’s structural design (compliant with the 2012 International Building Code), Seeds of Learning’s complete construction report AND a 2-hour phone call with the Seeds of Learning team. This is ideal for anyone who is interested in building their own superadobe project and the money goes to cover school supplies and resources. Donate
