Access to education

We work with local communities in Central America and Mexico to improve access to education by building schools, learning resource centers, and other infrastructure that empowers students and communities.

Cross-cultural education

Through volunteer programs, we bring North Americans to work alongside local communities, fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange that inspires shared learning and social change.

Our values

  • We believe everyone deserves access to education to reach their full potential.

  • We partner with communities to create sustainable, locally-driven educational solutions.

  • Education is a tool for addressing inequality, empowering individuals, and breaking the cycle of poverty.

  • We believe cross-cultural experiences promote understanding.

Supporting education since 1991

For over three decades, Seeds of Learning has worked alongside communities to build schools, expand access to education, and support lifelong learning.

Meet the U.S. Team

  • EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    annie@seedsoflearning.org

Annie has been involved with Seeds of Learning for over 25 years. She began as a work group volunteer in 1994, returned as an intern during a semester abroad in 1997 and again in 1998, and joined the staff full-time in 1999 as Program Administrator. Over the years, she has served as Program Coordinator, Director, and, for the past eight years, Executive Director, working across Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the U.S.

Annie loves working with SOL because she believes in its approach to community development and deeply values the relationships she has built with staff and community members. “The idea of listening to community members’ needs, their dreams, difficulties, hopes, and finding a way to work together with them, staff, and volunteers is very inspirational,” she says. “Also, seeing the impact that participating in a work group has—especially on teen and youth volunteers—and how it changes their perspective in life is awe-inspiring.”

She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Swarthmore College, with concentrations in Latin American Studies and Peace and Conflict Studies.
