Oaxaca Program
Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca
June 22 - July 1
Trip Overview
This program offers a chance to deeply engage with a new culture, build meaningful connections with locals, and practice Spanish within the vibrant context of Oaxaca. Most of the trip will take place in Teotitlán del Valle, a rural Indigenous village where Zapotec weaving and rich cultural heritage are preserved and celebrated. Participants will work closely with Vida Nueva, an indigenous women’s weaving cooperative, on projects such as building a playground, creating a medicinal herb garden, or establishing an outdoor kitchen for their community center. Volunteers will also explore the rural mountain town of Benito Juarez and Oaxaca City.
Our Partners: Vida Nueva
A cooperative of Zapotec women preserving indigenous weaving traditions while advocating for gender equality, sustainability, and community resilience. Their work embodies ancestral techniques while addressing contemporary issues of social justice and environmental stewardship.
